The creation of a genre?

Middens would be an ideal candidate for a "future possibility" section of "unclassifiable games" found on this website. And that's because Middens is one of those games that are absolutely discernible from the known genres, leaving one with a stunned face when trying to define what was just a perfect example of "indie game".

By the nature of its graphics, which are really works of art that wouldn't look out of place in any art museum in the world, Middens gives the feeling of being the embodiment of a new and visionary genre. The choice of format "PC game" in Middens, rather than any other means of expression, seems quite arbitrary.

Not surprisingly, Middens doesn't play like other games. Or as the author says, "there is a right way to play Middens". You can play the game from a purely contemplative stance or try to exploit the real potential of what is understood as a game, based on observation and strategic schemes. However, because it's great, strange and surreal Middens deserves a download. And after all it's free!
